First Days!!

I AM ALIVE!!!!

Being real this email is probably gonna be long. I've had some of the most wonderful experiences in the midst of a huge transition and I just feel so grateful so I HAVE TO TELL YOU!!! My apologies!! Swear they won't always be this long. also fun fact my mission is allowed to called friends so lmk when you are free on mondays and I'll hit your line.

I have had the most insane last couple of days! Friday I woke up at 2:30 am to get ready and headed to my mtc checkout at 4 am!! From the mtc we got on a bus then the front runner then Trax then an airplane (Sat by my homies Elder Akerlow and Elder Wood. It was so lit) then a fat van to the mission home then the fat van again to the mission office where I met my cute comp Sister Rush!! This is her last 6 weeks so I'm basically being trained by a pro. Also I moved to Bothell Washington and I'm serving in the Cottage Lake Ward which is the most northern part of the Seattle Mission!

Saturday was the best first day ever!! Sister Rush forgot to set an alarm (and of course I was passed out from almost being up for 24 hours) so I woke up and realized we had slept in about an hour later. Honestly it was a blessing because I needed that.
We did member visits and every single one of them was so sweet and kind. Just picture the cutest old people ever and that's who we visited. Some of them remind me a lot of my sweet Grandma June who just recently passed and thats such a tender mercy. We first stopped at Sister Lukrofka's house. She is quite the collector of nicnacs and her house was covered in the most unique decorations. We sat in her cute entry way and chatted with her and her daughter. She was so honored that she was the first member visit on my mission and started crying.
Then we went to TARGET, and got some groceries but we will most likely do a big haul on Monday. After we visited Brother Krey. He is the sweetest old man who has alzheimers. I definitely told him it was my first day about 7 times but every time he was so excited. We walked with him around his backyard while he told me about his life. His wife recently passed and it breaks my heart. Then, we TOOK A NAP. I was barely awake so this was much needed and don't worry my mission presidents are bomb so this is allowed! Got right up from the best nap and headed to the Carlsons!!!!!! The area I am in is really nice so they have a huge property with so much farm land and an awesome garden! OH MYYY they fed us the best meal. SALAD from the garden, ROAST AND MASHED POTATOES. Brother Carlson is a scripture master. He ended up teaching Sister Rush and I a really good lesson on the Spirit world, premortal life and what happens after we die. He also took us in the garden and gave us 2 full buckets of fresh veggies! Bless that man. I've loved just being outside talking with these new people and getting to know them. Washington is SO beautiful and I feel so close to God in its beauty. Its so fun to be in the car and look out the window at everything!

This scripture stuck out to me the last couple days as I have felt so grateful for my surroundings:

Alma 30:44
"But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."

Sunday we went to church and it was so fun to meet all the members. They were also surprised to know that it was my second day in Washington! After we went to the park and offered random people some of the veggies that Brother Carlson gave us. We invited 2 of those people to church so that was a great finding activity! Then we headed to the Davis' to pick blueberries and join their empty nester club! The empty nester club has everyone over in the ward who is in need of a good visit. The Davis couple hosts it once a month. They have a themed dinner and I was lucky enough to join them on the "Did you know?" dinner for August. In August it's apparently waffle month or national waffle day so we had breakfast for dinner and it was BOMB, then they just told us a bunch of random facts about August and had the place decorated according to the theme. I chatted with Sister and Brother Davis while helping them clean up and I was so impressed by all the things they do to serve their neighborhood and especially the missionaries. THEY ARE SO GOOD

It's been a big adjustment but I am being so real when I say that I have had the BEST first days!!! I feel so blessed and I KNOW Heavenly Father knew just what I needed to have here to get me through it. The work is SO good and the people are SO good! ANYWAYS... that's a wrap for this week. I'd love to hear about how your week! If you made it this far, feel free to do so.
LOVE YOU SO BAD
Peace
